About my work
What I’ve done
Over the past few years, I’ve done quite a bit:
- Writing documentation for system administrators and cloud administrators, specifically user guides and getting started guides
- Editing technical curriculum for developer audiences
- Building and deploying websites using docs-as-code tooling
- Acting as a core maintainer for The Good Docs Project
- Building and managing a style guide
- Teaching English composition to high school students, college students, and adult learners
How I work
If I had to describe how I work as a technical writer, it would be:
- I thrive on exploration: Diving deep into products helps me to understand them from the user’s perspective.
- I test, and then I test some more: User testing is a fundamental aspect of my process. By replicating the user’s workflow, I uncover insights, anticipate needs, and identify potential roadblocks.
- I seek to improve: I look for opportunities to engage stakeholders in discussions about documentation challenges and collaborate to identify solutions that better serve customer needs.
